Welcome to the Lucky Ducks Farm in Palisade, Colorado. We are located in East Orchard Mesa, which is the fruit growing farmland area in Mesa County. The predominant fruit is the peach, although other fruits include apricots, cherries and apples. A fast growing industry in the area is the wine industry. Vineyards and wineries continue to increase in volume and popularity. It has developed into a tourism attraction.Harvey and Laurie moved from Vail, CO in 1998 and bought a 17 acre land parcel in Palisade, which was just barren land at the time. Harvey retired as a marketing & advertising executive and came back to his roots, having grown up on a large farm in Brighton, Colorado. They have since built a house, barn, corral, planted 2,500 peach trees and planted a hay field. Harvey enjoys operating and managing the farm. "It allows you to have all the big boy toys like tractors and a lots of heavy machinery."
Laurie reluctantly agreed to move from Vail to a farm in Palisade in 1998. She said, "If I wanted to marry a farmer, I would have stayed in Wisconsin!". Laurie is originally from Titletown, USA, or home to the Green Bay Packers. She and Harvey met in Vail and have been married for 26 years. It didn't take very long for her to fall in love with the farm and the area. She has 3 llamas, which solely serve the purpose as pets. Harvey & Laurie also have two cats, which Laurie found as kittens on the side of the road. Someone had cruelly just dumped them. After failing to find a home for them, she decided to keep them as household pets. They are appropriately named Really and Lucky. Laurie took up painting and enjoys pastel painting and has won awards at the local Palisade Art Lovers showing. She has also become active in the community serving on the Board of Directors of the Mesa County Libraries.
